Sunday 30th March – walk **** sunny periods

We got away with our prime parking position for the second time! Clocks went forward so we were up quite early and had our pastries and coffee on the seats on the prom in front of the van:) Watched a few early bird sailors getting their various boats ready for racing. Walked to the right of the van along the prom and into the nature walk which took us a lot further than before – around the edge of the lake. We saw lots of coots, grebes displaying to each other, black kites having a mid air scrap and a huge but rather scabby chubb fish. There was lots of evidence of beavers gnawing at bark and felling trees but we didn’t actually see any:( Back to the van for a cuppa watching French Sunday life and the finish of one yacht race and the start of another. We had lunch then set out back up the mountain to investigate another ski area – Savoire Grand Revard comprising Le Revards, La Feclaz and St. Francois de Sales. They look very promising for another trip but close today – end of the season. We had a good look at the view from Le Revard Belvedere which had a couple of platforms to look out over Lac Bourget and Aix le Bain – we could still see the yacht racing! The view from the other side was of lots of snowy peaks and there were glass panels forming a very grand table of orientation showing what they all were - including Margeriaz where we skied a couple of weeks ago which is only on the next ridge. Drove down the valley going through lots of little alpine villages and decided to go back to Margeriaz for our overnight stop and hopefully ski there again tomorrow if the weather is good:)
